One way to help Ford out

I know that all of you have heard in the news of the present status of the big 3. And now you will hear another part. I know some of you may not agree with what I am about to say, but, it looks better in publics eye.
So here goes; if any of you know of anyone who works for any of the big 3 - especially for Ford - and has 30 or more years in - kindly suggest to them they may consider retiring. The more people retire, the less chance of a younger worker(one who has a spouse-children-mortgage-etc) will be pinkslipped. All 3 have a 'Thirty and out clause'. Meaning regardless of a persons age, they work for 30 years, they retire - the following month they begin collecting their pension, $3k per month. It wont change if they get some small job. It only will when Social Security begins. And who wants to depend on that. Can you imagine starting work there at 18 doing 30 years, retiring at 48 and collect pension at that time? If they haven't gotten their financial situation in order by now, they never will. And if they can't survive on that amount per month, they are in sad shape. Not to mention how much they should have put into a 401k for themselves. So again, what looks better in the publics eye, workers like that retire or the younger ones out? Sure they will give you all sorts of excuses why they won't. But the truth is the reason why they won't retire is they have nothing else to do. It wouldn't hurt the economy - it would help. And before any of you post any replies, talk to the younger workers who are going through this. I am very sure they will tell you the same. But here is one last thing, there are some who still working there and collecting social security? The retirement packages that are being offered, some have been offered $100k to retire plus their monthly pension, and hasn't taken it. Some if you add the number of years of service and their age it would be over 100. This isn't anything to do with the company and the decisions they make - it is all the employees. Again, with the state of the economy, what looks better in the publics eye?

two words: self preservation

Know one, if they had any hard financial hardship, is going to sacrifice their job so some young-pup just starting in the industry, doesn't get pinkslipped. I don't think the "publics eye" has anything to do with this it. I don't blame the elders for not taking a payout, everyone has a different financial situation so its very difficult to compare apples(new employees) to oranges(industry veterans).
